Their solutions include protheses for kids, 3D printed sunglasses and they have an inspiring project for social development in Peru.
Kromkommer (a wordplay of the words crooked and cucumber) was founded with the mission to save all the fruits and veggies that otherwise would have been wasted because of their looks or overproduction.
The vegetables are made into soup which can be sold at numerous shops throughout Netherlands.
Next to the product line, they also want to increase the awareness of food waste.

Plastic Madonna is an organization that aims to reduce the plastic soup and inform people about the polution in an engaging way. Recently they collected 100.000 PET bottles and showed these in a church in Amsterdam. Every 10 seconds there are 100.000 bottles going into our oceans. The bottles collected by Plastic Madonna will be recycled into 3D printer garnment and from this a plastic Madonna will be printed. This printer will be placed on the beach of Rio de Janeiro during the Olympics this year.

The E-Trailer is an electric powered system that drives a caravan. This solves a lot of problems conventional caravans encounter. With the build-in E-trailer you can pull a caravan with every car, even small, light-weight and energy efficient cars. This way driving a caravan becomes safer, cheaper and easier. The E-trailer consists of two wheels with build-in electric motors, lightweight batteries with lithium-ion batteries and intelligent control system.
A PowerWindow is a fully transparent and colorless electricity-generating window. According to the desire of the customer the electrical efficiency, transparency and isolation values can be produced to fit a specific project. PowerWindows will enable users to be in close contact with the conversion of light into electricity while at home, at work or traveling.
Finch Buildings make modular houses from high-quality and sustainable wood. The units can be adjusted to the environment and circumstances. For instance the modules can be adjusted to the users, the usage and the location. It can be used as permanent or temporary housing.
The environment is under pressure from thousands of tons of Co2 emitted by vehicles every day. Bubble Post aims to make logistic transportation 100% ecological. The company was founded in 2013 in Gent and is now delivering in 40 cities throughout Belgium and Netherlands. Currently they have 200 employees. The goods are delivered to warehouses at the outskirts of the city, where they are carefully sorted and bundled. Then the goods are delivered per bike, electric cars and electric vans.
Partago is an innovative car-sharing network based in Gent, Belgium. Partago is a co-operation so all their members own a part of the company. At the moment they have three Renault Zoë’s driving around in the city. With an app members can reserve a car and pick it up at their desired time. Soon they want to have an electric car in every neighbourhood of the city.

Monday I payed a visit to Partago, a innovative car-sharing network in Gent. Joachim the owner invited me to stay at his house which is one of the most sustainable houses I’ve ever been.
Tuesday I wanted to visit Spilvarken but due to a miscommunication it didn’t go through but I interviewed myself about the project. I did interview Bubblepost, a company who want to make transport greener.
Later that day I stayed in Heverlee, where I used to life for 6 years as a kid.
